Insurance Law: Dr. Zhan Hao’s service in this area includes: insurance claim, litigation and arbitration concerning insurance subrogation, mergers and acquisitions concerning insurance companies, establishment of domestic and overseas insurance organizations, utilization of insurance fund, insurance company’ compliance with the development of insurance products, corporate governance within an insurance company, issuing of subordinated debt of insurance company, and IPO for insurance company.

In 2008, Dr. Zhan Hao was invited to give a series of lectures on PRC insurance law for the Ministry of Commerce of PRC (MOFCOM)(www.training.mofcom.gov.cn) through its official website and he was the first lawyer to do so. Due to his influence in the field of insurance law, Dr. Zhan Hao was invited to share his expertise and participate in the modification of Chinese Insurance Law, helping the regulatory department to draft the insurance company compliance guidelines.

Dr. Zhan Hao is ranked as one of the best insurance and reinsurance lawyer in China by international legal ranking institutions such as Chambers and Partners - Chambers Asia, ALB, PLC Which Lawyer, Expert Guide and Who’s Who Legal. Under his leadership, the insurance department of Grandall Legal Group has been honored as the first Chambers and Partners Asia Award: "The Insurance Law Firm of the Year 2010 in China."

• Providing legal services for American, British, Japanese, middle eastern and offshore insurance company in purchasing shares in domestic insurance company;

• Provided legal services to help American and European insurance companies, insurance intermediary to set up subsidiaries, JV or representative offices in China;

• Provided legal services to several European insurance companies regarding extended warranty services within China;.

Competition Law & Anti-trust Law:  Dr. Zhan Hao’s service areas include: merger filing, defense for administrative investigation of monopoly agreements, abuse of market dominant position, antitrust private ligation and antitrust compliance.

 He has played an important role in assisting a number of multinational companies and state-owned enterprises (SOEs) in antitrust regulatory filings in China and has secured approvals for all the transactions he represented. His specialized area in antitrust filings are merger and acquisitions, joint-venture (JV) setups and contractual control involving a broad scope of sectors, including aviation, mining, pharmaceutical, oil, machinery, food, IT, vehicle etc. He has represented respondents in China’s first government investigation of price cartel and secured suspension of the action. He has also successfully defended clients on antitrust litigation cases in Chinese courts. Furthermore, he has counseled numerous domestic and multinational companies in antitrust compliance programs. His client base includes not only domestic companies, but also companies from the United States, UK, Germany, Spain, Canada, Australia, Japan and etc.

Dr. Zhan Hao has authored a number of academic books on Anti-Monopoly Law of PRC (AML) which are published by LexisNexis and Chinese leading legal press. So far, he is the only Chinese antitrust lawyer having both PhD in law and extensive experiences in post-doctor microeconomics research. The education backgrounds enable him to offer better antitrust analysis to his clients.  

Dr. Zhan Hao also serves as Deputy Secretary General of the Economic Laws Commission of All-China Bar Association where he is invited by Chinese government authorities to participate in drafting regulations that target monopoly agreements and abuse of market dominant position. He has also been invited by the Ministry of Commerce of PRC to deliver a series of lectures on AML via the official website. • Provided legal service concerning the declaration of concentrations in the MOFCOM;

• Represented clients in an antitrust investigation procedure regarding cartel and abusing issues;

• Provided legal opinion to multi-national companies concerning its current distribution model and reshape it to keep it in compliance with China’s AML and provided legal analysis for its promotion project;

• Provided legal services for Chinese clients during the merger control review within the foreign jurisdictions;

• Represent clients in the anti-monopoly litigation in Chinese courts.

 

International arbitration and litigation: As an arbitrator of CIETAC and an experienced lawyer, Dr. Zhan Hao has handled many major and complicated cases and has abundant experiences in international arbitration. He acted as the legal counsel in the case of Xinjiang Yinhai Company v.s. Xinjiang Hops Company, which was heard by Supreme People’s Court and published in Pronouncement of Supreme People’s Court. He also involved and acted as the legal counsel for numerous arbitration cases in China (Hong Kong and Mainland), UK, France, Singapore, Stockholm and Japan etc., and help foreign clients to get foreign arbitrary rewards recognized and enforced in China.
