June 16, 2011 - Thomson Reuters - Grandall Legal Group ranked No. 1 as the leading global equity and equity-related legal advisor to issuers for the first quarter of 2011.
According to a recent survey released by Thomson Reuters for the Global Capital Markets Review - Legal Advisors in First Quarter 2011, Grandall Legal Group was ranked as the leading global equity and equity-related legal advisor to issuers for the first quarter of 2011 with 18 offerings with a total value of US$2.3 billion. Davis Polk & Wardwell was the leading global equity and equity-related legal advisor to offering managers, having advised on a total of 30 offerings with a total value of US$10.6 billion.
Latham & Watkins was the leading global debt, equity and equity-related legal advisor to issuers for 2011. The firm participated on 53 transactions, 20 more than the same period last year, worth US$28.1 billion in total proceeds. Allen & Overy was the top manager legal advisor for global debt, equity and equity-related transactions during the first quarter of 2011, participating on 47 fewer transactions than the first quarter of 2010. The firm worked on 135 transactions worth US$101 billion in total proceeds.
For global straight debt, Davis Polk & Wardwell was the top issuer advisor, with 41 issues totaling US$43.3 billion. Allen & Overy was the top manager advisor for global straight debt having advised managers on 133 global straight debt issues worth US$95.3 billion, a decrease of 43 transactions from the same period a year ago.
Global equity capital markets activity totalled US$201.8 billion for the first quarter of 2011, representing a 18.2% increase on the first quarter of 2010, when total new issuance reached US$170.7 billion. The total number of deals executed in the first quarter of 2011 declined 28.8% on 2010’s fourth quarter total of 1,508.
